And a mental rewind is just what you can expect from U.K. DJ and producer LTJ Bukem, who takes things back to an era when good drum 'n' bass didn't just go hard, it went deep. Injecting a '70s fusion tradition into a futuristic molding, Bukem helped popularize an aqueous, soul-jazz–soaked breakbeat strain. The contrast of mellow melody, aggressive basslines, and MC Conrad's reverberant toasting helped establish Bukem's Good Looking Records as an "it" imprint in the late '90s and early '00s.
